What can you do to protect your trees?
1) Schedule preventative spraying NOW! To be effective, spraying must be completed between April and late June. As the summer progresses, the pine beetles take to the air in search of a new host...the key is to spray BEFORE the beetles emerge.
2) Both thinning and spraying susceptible stands of trees promotes healthy, treated trees. This is also important to reducing the fire hazard caused by overgrowth.
3) Manage infested trees NOW before beetles emerge to attack more healthy trees. Many different techniques can be used.
4) The big key is to schedule a beetle inspection of your property. An evaluation can determine risk and a get you started with a solid management plan.
